No, we can’t connect your phone to the wireless network. This decision comes down to three main reasons:
- Technician time – WHSC employs one full-time IT Technician and one part-time tech. Between us, we have to manage over 1000 laptops and desktops, as well as all our servers and network infrastructure. We simply don’t have time to service personal devices.
- Liability – WHSC will not open itself up to the risk of damage to personal devices while in the care of IT Technicians for configuration
- Network security – this is the big one. For a device to qualify for connectivity to the WHSC network it must have up-to-date antivirus and antimalware protection, a capable firewall, and other device management policies which restrict the ability of malware to get a foothold. The nature of personal devices means they are not manageable
